Laos 4 days itinerary

Day 01: Vientiane – Arrival, city tour
On arrival at the airport, warmly welcomed by our guide and transferred to hotel. After a soft rest, we will first visit the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to Lao’s national icon, the famous and sacred structure of Pha That Luang, we stop en route to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxai Victory Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.

End your tour of the capital along the banks of the Mekong River as the sun begins to set. Stroll along the river, stop to enjoy a cold drink, or sample a snack from one of the many local food stalls. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 02: Vientiane – Buddha Park – Luang Prabang
Morning visit to Wat Si Muang, which is considered the home of the guardian spirit of Vientiane. After that drive to Buddha Park which takes around 45 minutes away. On the way, stop and take photos of the Friendship Bridge built in 1994 and links Laos and Thailand.

Upon arrival, enjoy a stroll around the park. Also known as Xieng Khuang, this unusual park is filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. The quiet and tranquil setting along the Mekong River is a contrast to the slightly eccentric sculptures which were built in 1958 by a Laos’ shaman. The concrete sculptures are bizarre but intriguing, sitting majestically in the peaceful park.

After visiting Buddha Park, start the drive back to Vientiane. En route, stop at Mai Savanh to explore the traditional textiles of the Lao people. (Note: Mai Savanh is closed on Saturday & Sunday)
We then transfer to airport to take flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 03: Luang Prabang, city tour - Pak Ou Cave
After breakfast, visit to the Royal Palace Museum (close on Tuesday), the most important treasures of Laos from the Royal period in Luang Prabang, we will seeing the city’s oldest temples, the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roof sweeping low to the ground, representing classical Lao architecture, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham.

After, proceed to the boat pier and board on a traditional boat to cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside, before reaching the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, a 16th century cave monastery filled with thousands of Buddha images. Return to Luang Prabang, on the way back we will take a short drive to Ban Phanom, a village famous for its hand weaving, then back to the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Luang Prabang.
Day 04: Luang Prabang – Kuangsi Falls – Departure
This morning, wake up early if you wish to participate in the daily morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with their black alms-giving bowls receiving offerings from the local people, including the ubiquitous sticky rice.

Return to hotel for breakfast then departure for Kuang Si Falls, stop en route to visit Hmong villages. Kuang Si is the biggest waterfall in Luang Prabang area with three tiers leading to a 50-meter drop into spectacular azure pools before flowing downstream. You will also take a short visit to the Bear Rescue Center before returning to Luang Prabang. You will be transferred to the airport in time for departure flight.
